Chris Macrae

Main lender of The Economist's change world stories: Chris' dad & his 85th birthday celebration of peer to peer networks in 2008

Mamading Ceesay

Technologist, futurist, ecotopian, autodidact, pro-activist, recovering neologist, idealist, pragmatist and more.

Ideas that have meaning for me:

  • Life is a positive sum game, play to win/win!
  • We are living in an upside down world and a peaceful bottom up revolution is needed to fix it.
  • Connecting and empowering the Cultural Creatives will change the world.
  • Doing well by doing good
  • Decentralized networked mutualism embedded in augmented reality

Robert De Souza

Robert De Souza is a Caring Social Entrepreneur & Humanitarian. As a Catalyst he loves to enrich and empower lives. His passion for evolving transformation is working with positive team leaders who share new ethical business models which provide a win-win-win plan of action.

Here is how he believe this possible where we can reduce the mega wealth Gap:

Simply by co-operating, harnessing love instead of competing by ruling with Fear.

  • Sharing an empowering mission, and a dynamic vision to leave a better legacy
  • Sharing eco friendly projects, working in harmony, and harnessing Solar Energy
  • Mentoring team leaders to evolve change by connecting with positive people.
  • Co-creating, Collaborating with new innovating systems and structures that help peoples lives in all areas including sustainable, politics, business etc.
  • Linking up with Synergy Partners who understand The CTIARA Value Systems with a Plan of Action thus leaving a better legacy for humanity.

Guilhem Buzenet

Let me introduce myself: I'm a man of will and taste!

David Pinto

A slightly unusual maths teacher. Although his primary attention is on maths, he has been actively playing around with mechanisms of self-organisation and systems which encourage self-discipline and social-responsibility. It can work in classes with 30 kids. Can the same principles work with collectives of adults? Because of the nature of the material, human beings, there is deep respect for people's individual contributions, and a trust that they align themselves harmoniously. There is no control, no aggregation of power or skills or money... that's why i am involved in 24weeks.

Chris Heaton

Why am i here? I happen to work in the same building as the 24 Weeks guys, and am interested in what they're up to. Also, I'm just interested to delve more into the world of Wiki. Out of the 24 concepts, those that most grab my imagination are listed below. I'll be fiddling around with this list over time, as I reflect a bit on things, and possibly switching from one concept to another. Because they all interest me, really.

  • 24 Ecology 1 Million
    • starting with the last of them, because it's quite a hook for me. The definition of what we mean by ethical trade is slippery, but with the proper information we should be able to make much clearer decisions on this subject, and really start to make a difference. For instance, by passing on the word about the film Black Gold we may get more people to realise how stilted the "fair trade" coffee business remains.
  • 3 Trust-routed Transportation
    • i know that not everyone is in a position to use their bike as much as i try to, so it is important to come up with rational ways to cut through the madness of our present situation. We're not going to get rid of the petrol-driven motor car overnight, so some method by which we can at least rationalise its use can only be welcome.
  • 6 Mesh Identities
    • like it or not, this is an inevitable part of what the internet makes of us, by offering the possibility of multiple identities. It's useful in some ways, disturbing in others, and it's something we have to accept and make the best of. I suppose that this idea of diffused, disparate identities (to use the computational metaphor, a kind of parallel processing) does perhaps mirror on an individual psychological level the socio-political concept of decentralised decision-making, which is at the heart of this enterprise. Errm, if i've understood correctly.... Or maybe I just like using fancy hyphenated combinations of words, init.
  • 7 Cultural Market Spaces
    • Work In Progress
  • 14 Trust-Led Organisation Management
  • 15 Reputation-Based Currencies
    • let me be a little bit old-fashioned and communistic by saying that if this turns into a currency like any other, it's not going to revolutionise our lives. The trick would be to ensure that this doesn't end up getting controlled either by a small clique of virtual neo-bankers (they're already opening up branches on Second Life, I've heard) or by an equally menacing tyranny of the majority. What do I mean by the latter? Let me have a think...
  • 16 Spam-Free Advertising
    • well, who wouldn't be interested in this? Being able to find the things that you really want or need, without having to plough through rubbish.
  • 19 Cultural Commons
    • WIP
  • 20 Peer Bazaar
    • WIP

Ingmar Redel

Founder, World Social Web Dialogue

Josef Davies-Coates

I'm the founder of United Diversity, the original "Symbiotic Engineer" (I coined it but tav uses it more than me these days), and I've known the visionary but idiotic tav too long to invest myself too much (see sbp's warning here).

Back when I still had insane belief in tav's (self described) insane belief, I helped to organise WTF 1 (NOTE: xnet was due to launch then too).

My collegues and friends from United Diversity also helped for the set-up of WTF 2.

Jeffry Archambeault

the Chief Shailar of Espia.

  • Why I'm here
    • network with like-minded folks
    • wait for platform to develop ThinkingToolKit
    • was led to believe this was a wiki for espians, not some "24weeks" marketing tool

JohnMW

Recently redundant, looking for work, writing a screenplay to pass the time. Met ESP by accident and immediately clicked with the 24 concepts.

Matt Cooperrider

Based in NYC, cutting one by one the tethers that tie me down, soon to be completely liquid and mobile.

Charles Goodier

Charlie, or Charles, Goodier. I'm not much hung up on what you call me :-)

Tom Morgan

  • Individuals or organizations that require a 3d conceptualiser, designer or product developer.
  • I always need more time.
  • Defiantly to be better than I am at everything I do…
  • It would be great to have somebody to work with regarding material science and formulating safer and ethical products.
  • I would like people’s experiences and passions to fuel my designed world, to give me a greater understanding of what people need.
  • Anything that you might think I would appreciate.

Simon Fox

I like words, and learning what they actually mean. A recent discovery delighted me.

Enthusiasm (Root: En Theos)
It means "the god within". So when I get enthusiastic about something, I try to take notice.
I am currently Enthusing about:

  • Turning my creative projects into Open Source, volunteer run intiatives
  • Helping people who cannot easily see how, to gain skills and experience in creative fields
  • Running engaging, interactive, high visibility events in order to promote positive causes
  • Assisting the formation of active creative communities which provide a positive framework for those who would not ordinarily believe they could be succesful in such fields to work within.

Sofia Bustamante

Sofia is a facilitator, focused on community building online and offline.

-The drive for what I do comes out of some postive things:

  • experienceing groups in flow; project teams at different moments, countries that make a leap to a better situation through collective action, dancing as one group in a mining town in Bolivia in Carnival.
  • and from what happens when people manage to live their dreams, regardless of societal expectations.

-and some negative things:

  • being born in 1970 while Bolivia was under dictatorship and South American was subject to a 'dictators club'.
  • Being pretty bad at handling conflict as I grew up. (grew? or grow ;-))

So a driving question is 'how can the group be a place where individuals are liberated to do their best stuff, at the same time as being able to contribute to the group acting as one, going beyond zero sum game.'

-I am often told have more fun! Am working on it ;-)

tav

Known only as tav, this 25 year old Founder & CEO of the Espians (ESP) describes himself as an "aspiring polymath, symbiotic engineer and artifex".

Currently working on the 24 weeks project, tav intends to grow ESP to become one of the first Metanational organisations in the world. Once he is done doing that, he is looking forward to turning his efforts towards, amongst others, the fields of cinematography, molecular biology, psychology, linguistics and architecture.

In his spare time, he has also forayed into exotic fields like homelessness and road sweeping. See tav's homepage for more details. Admittedly not much more details.

Wybo Wiersma

Foss developer and student in Philosophy and Computer Science and chairman of the LogiLogi Foundation.

Lurking in the #esp channel for over a year now. Even stayed with Tav for a week in November 2006. We had many interesting conversations, and I really started to Like London, and all the people around there at the Limehouse.

Still working on different projects than the supposed plexnet, as I think redesigning the web's architecture won't make much difference to users, while usable web2.0 apps will. The current Next Fronteer of the Net is social and user-centered, and technical only in a secondary way.

The projects of my passion are:

http://www.ogog.org

A meritocracy for bloggers that allows them to get extra voting-power within the context of tags, if the posts from their feeds were rated well

http://www.logilogi.org

A discussion-platform, that will eliminate the nuisances of threads, and finally bring meaningful (philosophical) discussions to the web
