Mamading has actually got a wiki database already... which is private. We either use that, or the public one here.
To actually give us some hope of achieving the target of an exciting day for WTF 7.1, we are hoping to generate a list of 500 people. We will not contact everyone, but only those we believe might be able to contribute to 24weeks usefully. At this formative phase of 24weeks, we need visionaries, across all areas, including programmers, social entrepreneurs, networkers, process-engineers, potential sponsors and investors, creative directors, social artists.
Once we have this list, we can then co-ordinate our efforts so that we have a low-effort entry into 24weeks, in terms of our not needing to do much, and also that people find it easier to take part. We might find that you can contact your friend directly and invite them in, or to invite them in to a think-cycle meeting with others who are also interested in similar aspects/concepts of 24weeks. We might also find that it might be easier to introduce a contact to someone else in 24weeks who might share some common interest, for example, for education it might be me David Pinto, for musicians it might be Danny Bruder.
We want to ask them to give some feedback to the concepts/challenges for 24weeks, so that we can invite them in to think-cycle meetings. This involvement, their unique and genuine contribution to the project, enables our network to grow, and to justifiably generate pro-active participation at WTF 7.1.
We have various sources to people at our collective disposal: personal, professional organisations, individuals who have contacted 24weeks, associated networks, famous bods.
- Personal contacts, we make use of ourselves (eg i have about 10 hehhe). Though we may wish to introduce them to a more appropriate person in the 24weeks network.
- Professional organisations, we must approach and invite participation. This included government and ngo's. As close to cold-calling as we get. We could tempt receptionists in...
- We have people who are already interested: (there is a lot of doubling-listing in the following numbers)
- We have a list of about 30 people who have already shown interest in the project.
- We have 86 people joined up to the 24weeks facebook.
- We have an email list of 100 people.
- chris mamading david and tav came up with a list of 70 associated networks
- We know of a whole bunch of liminals, successful creative geniuses, who might be interested in the 24weeks project. Is it possible to get a friend/associate/minion to get involved initially?
- Event organisers, people who manage facilities, should be interested in what 24weeks is up to...
- Social Entrepreneurs have their finger on the pulse and should not be too hard to attract them to an initial tasting of the project.
- Creative Directors, eg of advertising agencies, might also have the vision.
- There are plenty of co-collaborators who should be interested in our progress, eg paul hawkin...
Generally, our approach is personal, grassroots, one-to-one. If we are to approach big companies and the like, why don't we approach them through the grassroots up...? Talk to the secretaries, the receptionists, the security guards, the cleaners...? How about shop-keepers...? The people who distribute free newspapers...? If they like the project, they may find out how to contact people within their network, organisation, company.
Based on discussion between Mamading and David, we are going to go ahead with compiling a provisional list of people, organisations, networks. I've created a new network section on the user page, and Network to compile everyone's network contacts.
